Windridge Vineyards

Windridge Vineyards is a family-owned farm winery located in Darnestown, Maryland. They have been farming since the late 50’s and planted their first vines in 2011. They take a holistic, sustainable approach to both farming and wine making and have a passion for quality you can taste in the wine. The winery is currently owned by four brothers who opened to the public in 2019. We had the pleasure of finally visiting this winery in April 2025. We had heard from other wineries how great both their grapes and wines are, which is why they supply other wineries in Maryland with their grapes year after year. As soon as you arrive on the property, you will note how big, modern and gorgeous it is. You will also notice all of the great art on the walls. We learned from our knowledgeable staff assisting us that it is all local and supplied by the Montgomery County Art Association. We were able to do a tasting at the bar before building our flights to enjoy at our table we had reserved and pair with some snacks we packed. This was a situation where we loved every single wine we tasted, from the sparklings, to the whites and through the reds. Our favorites were probably the Portrayal, albarino and the Seneca. The Portrayal comes in still and sparkling and is made from the chardonel grape. It had aromas of white flowers, peach and grapefruit. The albarino had some great stone fruit flavors and minerality, along with crisp, high acidity. The Seneca is their Bordeaux-style blend made from merlot, petit verdot, cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon. Dark fruits like blackberry and blueberry were on the nose and palate, along with spicy pepper  and cinnamon, vanilla and plum. This wine is named after the Seneca Creek that flows through the vineyard. Pay this winery a visit. They have a fabulous wine for all palates.
