Dejon Vineyard
DeJon Vineyard is located in Hydes, Maryland right next to Boordy Vineyards on Long Green Pike. It is named after its owners, Denise and John and has been open to the public since 2010. Previously a cattle farm, the original barn has been renovated into a rustic, cozy, tasting room. They are know for their sweet wines which are most popular at DeJon and we got a chance to taste a handful of them and chat with the staff working during our visit in December 2024. We learned they grow their own merlot and import their other grapes like vidal from New York and malbec from Chile. The Just Peachy is made from vidal and peaches. It had a bright, peach flavor and also notes of cinnamon and clove. We did our Bottle Review Podcast on this one, check it out! The DJ Jamz had a sweet, concord grape flavor and also some nice spice on the finish. The red blend, Dragonfly was probably the favorite dry red, made from cabernet sauvignon, malbec and cabernet franc. If you visit this winery on a weekend, you'll typically get to enjoy live music with your wine. This is also our 30th winery article! We are about a third of the way to our goal of having an article on all Maryland wineries.
