1961 was the year the owners were born. This is a newer winery in Maryland since 2019. Already winning awards and currently making some great albarino, sparklings, merlot and oaked chardonnay. Try their newly released cabernet franc and sangiovese, check out their new patio and keep an eye out for a new brewery being built next door this year! They are closed for a winter break until February 15th.

Excellent whites – chardonnay and gruner veltliner - plus some great merlot, cabernet franc and petit verdot - and a cool barn, full of history, in Sharpsburg with live music on the weekends. They have closed for the season - check back in April!

Located in Sparks and known for their brick oven pizzas and great wines named after their children. Marisa, Marisa Dolce and Marisa Reserve are made from chambourcin. They also have an excelled oaked chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon and off-dry white blend (Elena). They have a great Tuscan Christmas event every December.

They keep winning award after award and their winery in Rohrersville is BIG. Great cabernet franc, petit verdot, sauvignon blanc, meritage, sparklings, Malbec, rose, black strap port and off-dry muscat cannelli currently. They now have their own food truck for pizza to go along with their live music on the weekends. Vinepair just named their Bank Road Vidal Blanc Ice Wine one of the best sweet wines for 2024. Newly released = syrah rose. Congrats on the 3 best in class awards at this year’s Governor’s Cup! 2025 is their 10th anniversary year so stay tuned for events!

Known for their excellent reds, especially slate. Currently they have a rose, albarino and a pinot noir. Their winery in Mt. Airy is visually impressive - a historic farmhouse nestled between two hills, and they host a holiday bazaar annually in November (16-17 & 23-24 this year). Also check out their Fireside Fridays, Sunset Saturdays and Sunday Brunches. Located in North East, along the Elk River, and serving flights that include wines such as chambourcin, cabernet franc and pinot grigio. You can also enjoy tasty flatbreads, soup and salad off their menu.

They don’t grow their own grapes but they make all their own wine from grapes purchased from a local vineyard and have been in Funkstown since 2014. They have a whole line of wines ages in bourbon barrels, and great viognier, petite verdot and chambourcin. Check out their trivia Thursdays that now have food trucks. Dog friendly!

Under new ownership - now Bohemia Manor Farm Resort. Vivamee acquired Bohemia Manor Farm and expanded the farm to include a restaurant, dock bar, overnight guest housing, and opened the Manor House to the public for the first time. They still have the French-style wines from the previous owners until their new Argentenian-style wines come out next fall. Every Thursday evening features a different food special in the tasting room!

Newly renovated - heated, gorgeous light fixtures, larger stage, beautiful flooring and 6 additional bathrooms - come see for yourself! Excellent winery on the eastern shore that you can also find at the Maryland Wine Festival every September. Bordeleau means water’s edge and the owner is a former president of Perdue. The winery dog will greet you at the door most days. Their oaked chardonnay aged on the lees method is fantastic, along with their malbec and merlot. Located in northern Maryland and has a great vidal blanc and barbera currently. Walk around to check out all the animals while you sip! Newly released = semi-sweet sparkling vidal. We were members for a few quarters and enjoyed their members only area and the annual BBQ. They are making a great viognier, teroldego and syrah in Thurmont currently. We also love their blends, symphony and concierto. Almost always live music happening on the patio on the weekends. Lovely little winery in southern Maryland. Enjoy a barbera, verdicchio, sangiovese or merlot on their patio. Or check them out at a festival like Wine in the Woods. They are usually in attendance.

Cattle farm first and a winery second – but still making some pretty great wine. We enjoyed their merlot, barbera and sparkling rose. Couldn’t go home without some filets, brisket and short ribs! Their sparkling vidal blanc got a lot of attention at this past year’s Maryland Wine Festival. Check our their frequent chef dinners with wine pairings. Located in Kennedyville, they are also a B&B! Newly released = sparklings.

Oldest winery in Cecil County. Also makes some pretty great sweet wines, most popular being the blues-berry and pumpkin patch. We also enjoyed their vignoles and pinot noir. They planted the first syrah grapes in Maryland and still make a pretty great one at their vineyard in Mt. Airy, in addition to cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, oaked chardonnay, pinot noir and blanc de blanc. Newly released = Unity (chardonnay/ gewurtztraminer).

Chinese American owner and makes some of the best sweet wines in Maryland, especially their lotus strawberry lychee gewurtztraminer and pomegranate ruby swan. They have a handful of port-style wines for tasting, as well. You can find them at most festivals if you can’t make it all the way out to their tasting room on the eastern shore.

Italian style winery in Harford County. We enjoyed the off-dry boardwalk blush, sangiovese and the merlot. Check them out on the gunpowder wine trail! Or on a Tuesday for $2 glasses of wine. Live music in vineyard Saturdays frequently featuring: Greg Shinn, California Bob, Gil Bruns and Vince Borrelli. Senior Tuesdays and Thirsty Thursdays feature 10% off wine! Temporarily closed for the season but check them out again in the spring. Wine is only sold by the bottle. A small, very lovely tasting room with an outside patio. The vidal blanc and chambourcin were enjoyed. You could hear goats from a nearby farm.

Making wines like pinot gris, barbera, viognier and cabernet franc in Mt. Airy. They have a meat duck farm and a barn they are almost done renovating so they can officially be open to the public. They supplied grapes to The Wine Collective in Baltimore in the past but currently have a partnership with Windridge Winery. Until they officially open you can still call the number on their site and make an appointment for tasting with the vineyard manager.

One of Maryland’s oldest wineries and located in Mt. Airy. Their grounds are huge and include a large tasting room with space in the back with the tanks for a more private tasting. They also have a brewery on site and large outside lawn space for chairs while enjoying the food trucks and live music on site on the weekends. We love their white raven (Cayuga), sparklings and red blends. Try their newly released Bella rose. They tragically recently lost their brewery to a fire. Check out their site if you would like to donate to the project for it to be re-built. They are having an Office trivia event January 19th, a Vertical Tasting Experience January 25th, Galentine’s Cookie Decorating February 13th and Love and Wine Pairing Tastings with include a tour, charcuterie, truffles and flowers February 14-17th! Their barbera got a lot of attention at this past year’s Maryland Wine Festival and their 2019 chardonnay and 2020 cabernet franc have gotten a double gold. With over 20 wines on the menu at their Thurmont vineyard, they surely have something for everyone. They were closed/by appointment only for the winter have re-opened with their regular hours. Vineyard to Maryland’s youngest wine owner and a lot of other very interesting honey wine and Jewish history. Enjoyed their gruner veltliner and barbera nouveau at the vineyard in Mt. Airy. Newly released - Celebration rose and sparklings. Just announced - they have their own bees! Mead will be made from their own Maryland honey going forward. They have also newly planted blaufrankish to be enjoyed in a few years. Congrats on their 2022 Malbec winning best in show at TEXSOMM!

Winning award after award for their wines, this southern Maryland winery is making some pretty great vintages, especially chambourcin, albarino, vidal blanc and Bordeaux style Old Line Red. They are a true agricultural winery, originally created for tobacco farmers to sell their grapes to. Their newest releases include Vidalacato and Peach Mango April 1st. Live music and food trucks frequently at the winery: Jack McNutt, Tasteez Bowls, One Foot in the Groove, Swingaway, Scatch Mobile Kitchen and Dan D’s. Newly released = chardonnay and red.

The views from this Smithsburg winery atop the hill, especially if you rent one of their bungalows, can’t be beat. The wine is pretty good too. Especially if you are a fan of vidal blanc, blaufrankish, cabernet franc and petite verdot. Check them out on the Antietam Highlands Wine Trail! Or stop in for their fall music series. We got to try their wines at the Maryland Wine Festival in 2023 and also on site at their 35 acre property overlooking their perfectly manicured vineyard. Albarino, rose and cabernet francs were great. One was aged in Slovenian oak which was different. They just newly released their cabernet franc rose. They have a croquet court on site for guests and an annual tournament. Get on the list if you want an invite!
