Hidden Hills Farm & Vineyard

Hidden Hills Farm and Vineyard is located in Frederick. They first planted in 2014 and opened in 2017 from the owner's basement. By 2020, they had a newly built and  renovated tasting room set to open to the public March of 2020. They did just that and abruptly shut down due to the pandemic. Luckily, they were able to pivot once things started to open back up using their patio and outdoor space. That is one thing this farm is not lacking in, space. They have a large indoor tasting room with plenty of tables and places to sit and enjoy glasses, flights and bottles of wine. They have a large patio, as well and then there are all of the pastures and stables for the horses. There is a big equestrian culture at Hidden Hills. They own and care for a number of horses and you can see them as you roam this property. A fellow WSET was working in the tasting room the day of our visit and she was a wealth of knowledge as we tasted through our red and white flights. Our favorite whites were the sauvignon blanc and the viognier. The  sauvignon blanc was grassy with flavors of grapefruit, melon, bell pepper and medium+ acid. The viognier had its signature oily mouth feel with floral aromas and yellow apple notes. The reds we loved were the Estate Blue Roan Chambourcin III and the Chestnut Mare Bordeaux-style blend. We did a podcast on the Chestnut Mare so check it out! It was very complex with black and red fruit, oak, mint, tannin and a nice finish. The chambourcin was jammy, earthy, smokey and had notes of leather and cinnamon. This is a beautiful winery making some great wines. They also just started doing $35 seated  tastings that include a handful of wines plus a bonus pour all while seated and relaxed. Robin Sagoskin is the owner and she is doing a fabulous job!
